Take the worry away by insuring your camera or video equipment with Photoguard.
Reasons to choose Photoguard

- Thousands of photographers choose Photoguard every year
Questions to consider when protecting your camera kit
If you use your home insurance then ensure you review your policy as some providers will limit the type of cover available for photography and video equipment.
Some of the areas we recommend you check:
- What is the maximum amount of cover available for equipment taken out of the home?
- Will your policy cover accidental damage or theft when you are out and about with your equipment?
- Is the claim excess high? A Photoguard policy has an excess of just £50.
- Does your home insurance cover you for travel both in the UK and abroad?
- Does your policy cover you if your camera kit is stolen from your vehicle or damaged?
- Is mechanical breakdown covered for equipment that is outside of its warranty?
- If you are using the equipment as a professional photographer (we define this as someone who earns more than 50% of their income from photography) you may not be able to claim

- Remembering Great Apes is the third book of the charitable project, and will aim to raise awareness and funds for great apes across Africa and Asia
- Previous books in the series have raised £315,000 with the aim to reach £500,000 this year
Specialist insurer for amateur and professional photographers, Photoguard is pleased to announce that it will be sole sponsor of Remembering Wildlife’s latest photography book, Remembering Great Apes. The project will help to raise awareness and funds to protect and care for great apes across Africa and Asia in conjunction with the Born Free Foundation.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, five out of the seven great apes, Eastern Gorilla, Western Gorilla, Bornean Orangutan, Sumatran Orangutan and Tapanuli Orangutan are critically endangered, whilst the Chimpanzee and Bonobo are listed as Endangered.
Photoguard, a division of leading UK broker PIB, has provided specialist insurance for photographers and their equipment for over 20 years. Photoguard understands the passion that photographers have for their photographic subjects and the commitment and skill needed to do so by the photographer. Photoguard is proud to be part of Remembering Wildlife’s project to raise funds and awareness for the conservation efforts to save the great apes.
Remembering Great Apes, published by Remembering Wildlife, will be released in October 2018 containing images from some of the world’s best wildlife photographers such as Tim Laman, Brent Stirton, Art Wolfe and Frans Lanting and will be edited by Ian Redmond OBE. An exhibition of the photos from the book will take place at La Galleria Pall Mall in London from 15th-27th October. There will also be launch at London’s prestigious Royal Geographical Society on Thursday 18th October. Tickets can be bought by going to www.rememberingwildlife.com
Remembering Wildlife was created by British wildlife photographer Margot Raggett after witnessing first hand a poached elephant in Northern Kenya in 2014. Margot asked fellow wildlife photographers to contribute photos for a fundraising book which was so successful she decided to create a series. Remembering Great Apes is the third of the books from this project, following Remembering Elephants, and Remembering Rhinos. The books were each pre-funded through a Kickstarter campaign and have so far together raised £315,000. Remembering Wildlife hopes to reach £500,000 with the additional publication of Remembering Great Apes.
Published in September 2016 and featuring images from 65 wildlife photographers, the monies raised from Remembering Elephants have been distributed through the Born Free Foundation to projects in Kenya, Mali, Malawi, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. So far, Remembering Rhinos has raised £165,000 since launch in November 2017 and has supported projects in South Africa, Kenya, India, Java and Sumatra.
High profile supporters of the Remembering Wildlife series include Chris Martin, Ricky Gervais, Russell Crowe and Joanna Lumley.
Sara Newell from Photoguard comments: “We’re incredibly proud to be supporting this great cause. It’s so important to make sure these fantastic animals are protected and can live free in their natural environments. By protecting them we are also ensuring that future generations will be able to learn about them, and capture their own wonderful images.
We’ve been working with photographers – both amateur and professional – for over two decades so we’ve seen first-hand how much time and effort goes into capturing these truly special images. This is why we’re committed to providing the kind of expert care and service that dedicated photographers deserve, and why we’d like to thank all the people who have donated an image for this book. We celebrate 20 years in the business this year and this is a great way to mark this significant milestone for the business.”
Margot Raggett adds: “As a wildlife photographer, I’ve seen these magnificent creatures up close and believe passionately in the need to protect them and their habitats from destruction. I’m thrilled that Photoguard, in sponsoring the project, are taking part in this fight.
“I started the Remembering Wildlife project after realising that I could no longer stand back and do nothing. Since starting the project, I’ve been overwhelmed by the response and support both from my fellow photographers and the general public. The next book will help to raise fund for projects looking to help preserve the great apes left across Africa and Asia.”
