The IOV Executive

Tony Manning M.M. Inst.V. (Chair)

Tony Manning
I chair the group and also act as our Arbitration Officer with a qualification from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. This service can be significant not only when
matters between yourself and a client are in open dispute, but earlier in the process when you might benefit from discussing issues you anticipate facing, and need to
assess your options. Where necessary I can intervene with both parties and seek an equitable settlement on an agreed basis. Of course I have to be even-handed in doing
so, and while for the most part members have been more sinned against, there have been occasions where they had failed to take into account the reasonable views of
their client, or had missed opportunities to clarify the nature of the contract in operation.

I also edited Focus magazine for a substantial period, and still play a role in writing and encouraging others to contribute copy and/or video pieces to our website and Facebook.

My work in video at present is pretty much management for the IOV. My major objective is to make the IOV relevant in a changed environment. My predecessors did some fine work building the brand, but technology has move on and the days of risking investment in trade shows etc no longer has the appeal it once had. Likewise F2F group meetings on a regular basis have proved hard to sustain. Instead we have to build a stonger web presence and encourage members to join online sessions (general discussions or themed presentations) and to find and meet up with members in their areas who share similar production interests. Given what our mastead declares I remain ciommitted to encouraging professionalism through sharing knowledge,  training events, posting members’ articles and videos and crucially the accreditation agenda. The aim is to make the website more effective in driving enquiries to our accredited members, so do please send some work our way for assessment.

I also run a busy private psychotherapy practice, working with individuals, families and couples as well. This is very demanding but also rewarding work.

I will be involved in producing some short videos for the IOV in the near future, as well as creating stock photography for our use. I have a strong interest in writing and in films generally.
When I have spare time I am a very involved Grandad, I play an awful lot of tennis (my detractors wouuld say a lot of awful tennis!) and, like Cheema, enjoy music and playing my guitar. Rather late in the day I am about to embark on learning music production using Cubase. If only I was 18!

I am based in Loughton, Essex.

Zulqar Cheema M.M. Inst.V.

I am the IOV Treasurer, Webmaster and defacto Membership Secretary!  Together with colleagues and a helpful Volunteers Group I have played a large part in commissioning and then trouble-shooting our new website which still keeps me busy.

I try to keep information flowing on a regular basis both on our website and Facebook. My duties also involve the accounts and general admin, answering any emails, phone enquiries, etc

I started in photography as a hobby, developing my own Black & White photos, and moved to video in about 1985. I went into business just as S-VHS came out in the late 80’s.
Over the years I have acquired or modified all manner of get-out-of-jail devices for my kit-bag. On this basis some know me as the gadget man! I am always happy to share tips to rescue a production or to simply save time, whether in live situations or in the edit process.

I take a strong interest in training and development and have been a Sony Independent Certified User for many years, mainly presenting on the Vegas suite and on wedding production and event filming skills. My production interests are also aspects of the production process.

Before venturing into the world of video production I worked as a commissioning engineer installing Radar Systems all over the UK and abroad …. and did a lot of voluntary work in hospital radio, where I learned a lot of my audio skills.

Outside of my working life I enjoy playing acoustic guitar, open mic nights and some local voluntary work.

I am based in Harlow, Essex.
